Rabbi Oded Mazor

כלהנשמה2022-164 (1)_edited.jpg

Rabbi Oded Mazor began serving as the rabbi of the community in the summer of 2019.

A decade before that, during his rabbinical studies at Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem (ordained in 2009), he served as the community's education coordinator and rabbinic assistant to Rabbi Levi Weiman-Kelman, the founder of the community.

Rabbi Oded grew up in liberal communities all his life: the "Darchi Noam" community, the Reform community in Ramat Hasharon where his father, Rabbi Yehoram, served as the rabbi of the community, and the "Hod Vahdar" community in Kfar Saba (traditional) where the family was a member; The communities of the Noam and Noar-Talam youth movements and Kibbutz Ketora in the southern Araba, where he was a member of the core of Nahal. The significant place of a community in his life led him to find his communal home in "Khal HaNsema" already as a student, and from there the connections deepened.

After his ordination, Oded and his wife Yael moved to Kibbutz Hanton, where he took part in community life in a variety of areas, including a partnership in leading the ceremonial and educational aspects of the Kibbutz. Rabbi Oded also worked with neighboring communities and with families throughout the area in marking the events of the circle of life and the holidays of Israel. In the years 2010 - 2018, he worked at the Leo-Back Education Center in Haifa as the rabbi of the elementary school division, taught Judaism in all age groups and later also coordinated the center's relations with Reform and liberal Jewish communities in Great Britain. In addition, Rabbi Oded taught in several pre-military training schools in the north of the country.

Rabbi Oded was the responsible editor, alongside Rabbi Levy, of the Hagitim cycle "The Simcha Shabalv", which is a joint production of "Kel HaNsema" and Ramm - the progressive (Reform) rabbinical council in Israel. Rabbi Oded was a member of the editorial committee of the new siddur of the Reform movement , "The Man's Prayer" (published in November 2020), which includes several prayers and songs he composed.

In the academic year 2018 - 2019, Rabbi Oded was a fellow in the Mendel program for leadership in Jewish culture, and since 2021 he is a fellow in the "Hani" fund.

Rabbi Oded serves as a member of the Rabbinate Secretariat, and teaches in the Israeli rabbinical program at Hebrew Union College.

Oded, Yale and their three children now live in Jerusalem.
